Matchmaking event on sustainable food packaging

EIT Food aims to join forces to tackle the challenges that are related to packaging waste.

We want to work together towards a circular economy that drastically reduces the leakage of packaging into natural systems (ocean, air, soil); and to decouple raw materials for the production of packaging from fossil feedstocks. To start the process of coming up with impactful solutions on both the short-term and long-term scope, EIT Food will organise a matchmaking event for all partners and external stakeholders that work in the food packaging value chain.

Online preparation

The process of ideation will start in November: for all registered participants an online tool will be opened to start pitching ideas. A documentary is created for guidance and inspiration. Nine experts within the network of EIT Food are interviewed to get insight in the barriers and challenges we are currently facing around the topic of packaging waste. Together with the experts we will search for a future vision where there is no waste of packaging anymore, and the steps we need to take to come to this future state of the art. Examples of experts that are interviewed are:
